Have you ever tried to figure out what type of flooring you should use in a bathroom, kitchen, or basement? What type of flooring is best? What type of flooring is easy to install? If so, you’ll know it can be difficult because there are so many options to choose from and things to consider. So what do you do? Many people have found success by first determining what the room will be used for. But there are a few other things you should know before you buy and install flooring to ensure the flooring will be durable and cost effective. Our goal is to do a series of blog posts to help you determine what type of flooring will give you a beautiful, functional rooms.
We are going to start off with what type of flooring to put in a bedroom. If you’re looking for something that is strong, durable, and timeless we would choose hard wood flooring. Hard wood flooring is very versatile and can make any room look … well however you want it to. You can add an area rug for a more cozy feeling, you can make your room modern/chic/ and minimalist, or you can keep it more functional for your children and animals to play in. All these options can be done with wood flooring just by how you choose to decorate and style the room.
Don’t know how to install hard wood? Here are a few things to consider:
- Allow for acclimation (This just means let the wood sit in the room prior to instillation so it can adjust to the moisture level to prevent bowing)
- Pre-finished wood will save you time because you don’t have to sand it and will save you money because you don’t have to purchase polyurethane.
- Be mindful of how you’re running the floors- you’re going to want to run it parallel with the longest will. This will make the room look bigger and will be more visually appealing
.A few positive things we love about hard wood:
- Easy to clean
- Strong & durable
